Can I replace a SS car motor by an electric motor?

Section 4 - Vehicle Regulations
4-1         The vehicle must be driven into and out of the judging lanes.

Additional Guidelines:
The vehicle's motor must be used to propel the vehicle into and out of the judging lanes. (Starter motors, etc. may not be used as a means of propulsion.)
Exception:
Some events may prohibit the operation of motor vehicles. In situations such as this, or when safety is an issue, compliance with this rule is waived.

they make cars with a electric motor dont they

and it wouldent be a starter

and it would be able to move under its own power

If you're serious about it, look at electric car conversions. There are a couple of guys running DC motors through their stock transmission. All you really need is the controller and an adapter plate. Plus some high voltage batteries, of course.

Well, yes, the engine is about to die and if I'm replacing the engine why not make it electric? It is a SS anyway, goes from trailer to lanes, from lanes to trailer...

I have seen extreme cars with electrical steering so why not with an electric motor
I would try to get something from an electric forklift
that is strong enough to drive around with it in the hall and of and on a trailer

i would think it woulb be legal for SS, maybe if it was a 24 volt system someone might say something but if you had 2 electricals and the audio side was under 18 then should be cool.

Are you trying to make room for more batteries under the hood?

His batteries are loaded in the back so I don't think this is for extra space.

Like he said, the engine is on it's last legs and he'd rather replace it with a DC motor rather than another gas powered. (plus finding a Terra motor in Canada would be difficult so he'd have to do some sort of weird swap)

No, I don't want to make room for extra bats, and the motor would be fed at around 100V, so it wouldn't help the amps anyway.

I just want to do that because it is nice, also a DC motor has good torque for the short burst it will do.

for me its o.k.
If its like u write it, just for on the trailer and off the trailer, in the lane out of the lane and no advandce for the electrical system, like ;dont know; higher voltage to charge batts etc, then I
