Does anyone know how to program a new FOB for a 2005 Volvo S40? The dealer is charging $250 but I'm planning on getting the key itself on ebay if I can get the programming instructions.

SOS!!

I do believe Volvo did not set up a learning mode trick to make this user serviceable. I believe you have to have the dealer do it, and they have to lookup a car PIN number based on your car's VIN.

Extensive googling does seem to show a lack of "learning mode" for your car or, indeed, any Volvos.

Good luck

shit old topic but i just want to clarify for viewers, Shadow is correct, bought two new fobs for my V70N, they come in a plastic container from retailer that has a sticker with a bunch of numbers (call it the fobs name), numbers who can not be read from an used fob, so you need to buy a new one, and then you need access to VIDA online servers and buy a one time use function to program the fobs, if you ad all this up, dealer will be the cheapest no matter how you do it 🙂
