I have been doing a lot of reading on this forum lately and have learned alot.By far the best forum available. Now my question and doubt arise from everyone saying you must "TUNE" your box 4-5hz lower than your peak or (Res. Freq), correct?

Therefore how do you acheive this so called tuning is it by testing and cutting port length or by way of box design with a program like Bassbox. Or is there some other way that I obviously have'nt learned yet.

I have always just made my box and cut port length till I got the highest db, but I don't exactly know where my tuning is, I just know that for "X" enclosure and "X" sub, the best port length was such and such, which found by cutting down from original port length...
