now, commercial vehicles aren't allowed in these classes, and the rules state:

"Commercial Vehicle - A vehicle that is not intended for use in consumer applications. Examples include Cargo Vans, Ambulances, Panel Trucks, School Buses, etc."

so does this mean that a 5 or 8 seater van (2 or 3 rows of seats) is allowed to compete in these classes, assuming all the seats are still in the vehicle, and obviously all other rules are met?

thanks!

talking about the black van on the left... its registered as a 5 seater, the rear seats have been removed at the moment but can easily be refitted.

They should be. I don't see why not cause it would actually be harder. You have to move air through a big space with the same equipment as a crx for example.

plus everything leaks

we're not too fussed, don't plan on breaking any records, just wanting to confirm the rules with whoever is in charge?

who might that officially be?

I also found this:

3-10c:
If a vehicle has more than 2 rows of seating, then the additional rows (3+) may be removed at the competitor's discretion.

that really does seem to suggest that there's no issue with a van.

Jepp, you can remove the 3rd row of seats but the install has to be still only in the cargo are

More pics of the car would be interesting... especially the cargo area... and the backpassenger area...

Mike

the back of the back seat is pretty much in line with the trailing edge of the sliding door. Its really no different to the white wagon in the picture or even the red hatch back.

the thread is about the black van, not the red hatchback.
